The Cinematheque Reviews: Bad Teacher

So I went to one of my local multiplexes on my birthday because the advertise free movies on your birthday.  Well hot diggity, let's go.  Of course there in the small print it says that your free birthday movie cannot be one that has been released within the past two weeks.  Really!?  Perhaps some people wait weeks to see a movie (not sure why, but these people do exist) but I try to see a new release (when unable to see it in a pre-screening - either press or promo) when it is still new.  I suppose such diligence is not awarded in these trying economic times.  Anyway, I saw Bad Teacher (and had to pay for it dammit!) on my birthday (though I did get free popcorn out of them - ha!) and I knew it was going to be bad, and lo and behold I was not disappointed (well, at least not in my assumptions and/or expectations).  My review is now up and running over at The Cinematheque.  My free birthday movie grumbling is now over - though I do grumble a bit about the film itself in my review.

Ain't she purty?  Yeah, about as pretty (or purty if you will) as Jake Kasden's achingly mediocre wannabe badass movie.  Did I mention the word mediocre?  If not, it needs to be mentioned, and if so, it should probably be mentioned again anyway.

Upon a second viewing, the film doesn't hold up all that well.

Great stuff Kevyn.
