The Cinematheque Reviews: Source Code

Guess what?  I quite enjoyed Duncan Jones' new action thriller Source Code.  In a way I was disappointed it was not another Moon, the director's debut feature, but once I got past that and fell into the rhythms of the movie, it was a very fun experience.  Sort of Hitchcock by way of Gilliam.  If you can get your head around that description, you may just enjoy the movie too.

Smart and sassy.....and with explosions and pretty girls.  Who could ask for anything more?

A well-paced and structured sci-fi thriller that’s as complex as it is clear-headed. Also, Gyllenhaal shows again why exactly he really is one of the better leading men out there, and proves he still has that charm. Good review, check out mine when you can!

Nice review to you as well. I too was expecting a darker ending than what we got - perhaps because of the ending of Moon. I did not necessarily dislike the ending **SPOILER ALERT** (who wouldn't want to walk off into the sunset with Michelle Monaghan!) but a darker one would have been better I think - or at least a more twisted on. Otherwise though, a fine piece of mainstream cinema indeed.
